Whether to cancel the division of science and arts in senior middle school is an issue of contruversy nowadays. We have heard many different voices about it. Some experts, as we can cee from the cartoon, approve of it while other senior school students are opposed to it. Some experts stand for the view that the division of science and arts limits the overall development of the students. The lack of humanistic quality inscience students as well as the lack of sientific quality in arts students undoubtely will impact on the nation'screation and competitiveness(竞争力) capccity. With the propect of Knowledge Economy brightened, the experts firmly believe that the students with varieties of ability can adapt to the high pace of the developing society more smoothly. However, regardless of such persuasive reasons,I still find myself in favor of the division. A strong fact is that we students have already had enough burden placed on us. Beside, it apparently bespeaks(在...上加斑点) that having a good understanding of a particular subject is more practical and vital. Weighing the pros and cons, I think if a student is really self-motivated and working hard, it make no difference whether tocancel the division of science and arts.
